@mandy_jacobz

Embracing your natural hair is a beautiful journey of self-care, but sometimes the steps required to keep it healthy can feel like a lot. With everything from washdays that last hours to the 10-step routines being popularised in the natural hair community, it can be pretty easy to feel overwhelmed.

If you prefer to spend the least amount of time and effort on your hair but still want to keep it healthy, we've got you covered. In this article, we'll be revealing the ultimate hair care guide for lazy naturals. Scroll down to discover our top tips for a hassle-free natural hair journey.

Stick To The Basic On Wash Day

If you pay attention to the many hacks and tips floating around online, wash day can start to look like a serious chore that requires up to ten different steps. However, this is not entirely necessary. If you want to get your wash day over with very little time,  all you need are five basic steps: shampooing, conditioning, detangling, moisturising, and styling. Grab our Hydration Shampoo, Moisture Rich Conditioner, a good comb, the products in our Stylers Bundle, you will breeze through your wash day with ease.

Avoid Wearing Your Hair In Its Shrunken State

If you constantly wear your hair out in its shrunken afro style, it will develop more tangles and knots that will take a lot of time and effort to detangle and also make your hair harder to manage and style. So, It is very crucial to avoid leaving your hair in its shrunken state too often if you want an easy and stress-free wash day routine. This is especially important if you have type 4 hair that experiences significant shrinkage.

Wash Your Hair In Twists

Ever combed or brushed your hair while shampooing and conditioning, only to finish rinsing and realise your hair still has tangles and knots that still need detangling? Trust us, we know how annoying it can be having to detangle your hair multiple times throughout wash day. However, if you want to avoid that extra hassle, just wash your hair in twists. Doing this keeps your hair from being matted and tangled while you shampoo and helps prevent the formation of new knots.

You can detangle your hair before shampooing and twists the hair in 5-6 sections before cleansing with our Hydration Shampoo. After shampooing, just undo each twist and apply the product and apply our Manuka Honey Deep Conditioner or Moisture Rich Conditioner, then retwist the hair and rinse properly afterwards.

Opt For Protective Styles And Wigs

Styling your hair every week can easily feel like a hassle if you're a lazy natural, so it is best to opt for protective styles like braids, twists, and cornrows that can last for several weeks and also keep your hair safe from damage. This is a major game changer that will make your life so much easier. All you have to do is style your hair with our Twist & Braid Gel and you can pretty much forget about your hair for several weeks. However, you will still need to keep your hair moisturised while in your desired protective style using our Everyday Curl Refresh Spray.

Use The L.O.C Method

Don't have time to moisturise your hair 3-4 times a week? Do the L.O.C(liquid-Oil-Cream) method. This moisture technique is a layering method that locks moisture into your hair for a long time and can keep your hair moisturised for more than three days before needing a touch up. All you need is a liquid/hydrator like our Manuka Honey Leave-in Conditioner, our Hair & Scalp Oil, and a cream like our Coconut Oil Curling Creme or Curl Activating Smoothie.

Additionally, you can use a refreshing spray like our  Everyday Curl Refresh whenever your hair feels a little dry and you don't have time to do the LOC method.

Style Your Hair According To Your Texture

Natural hair is very versatile and when it comes to styling, but some hairstyles are harder to achieve on certain hair types than others. For example, if you have coily 4c hair, achieving the defined curl clumps you see on type 3 wash n’ gos may require more time and effort. So, if you want to save time and avoid stress, it is best to go for hairstyles that suit your hair type. If you have type 4 hair, opt for twists outs and braid outs instead of wash n’ gos.

Skip The Pre-Poos

Pre-shampoo treatments AKA, pre-poos are great for the hair, but they are not entirely necessary. If the idea of spending almost an hour detangling and treating your hair before your wash day actually starts sounds like torture to you, then feel free to skip it. Just hop into the shower and start your wash day with our Hydrating Shampoo, then follow up with our Moisture Rich Conditioner. If you want a more intense moisture treatment, use our Manuka Honey Deep Conditioning Mask after shampooing. Your hair will still look and feel amazing without the extra prepoo step.

Consider Permanent Parts

Leaving your hair in permanent parts is a great way to save time when washing and styling your hair. When your hair is in permanently separated in parts you can detangle, wash, and style your hair without needing to separate and section your hair every time. To do this, just divide your hair into your desired number of parts and always handle one section at a time when styling or washing your hair.

Consider A Hair Stylist

If you don't want to deal with your natural hair yourself, it may be better to leave it to the professionals. Choose a hair salon with a stylist who has experience dealin with your natural hair type and let them handle everything. Just be sure to go along with high quality products like the one in our Wash Day Bundle and let them know you prefer to use your own hair products.

Maintaining healthy natural hair does not always have to be complicated and time-consuming unless you want it to be. If you are not a fan of multi-step routines that take hours, just stick with the tips we've highlighted in this article and your hair will still flourish while you enjoy the soft and easy life.
